Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) is a fat-soluble vitamin essential for normal bone growth, development, and the maintenance of bone density. It facilitates the absorption and utilization of calcium and phosphorus in the body. After ingestion, Vitamin D3 is metabolized in the liver to calcidiol and subsequently converted in the kidneys to calcitriol, its biologically active form. Vitamin K1 (Phylloquinone) is a fat-soluble vitamin naturally found in green plants. It plays an essential role in the post-translational modification of clotting proteins, enabling normal blood coagulation.

Vitamins D3 and K2 work synergistically: Vitamin D3 enhances calcium absorption from the gut, while Vitamin K2 ensures that calcium is directed to bones rather than arterial walls, supporting both bone health and cardiovascular health.

DK capsules are generally well tolerated when used at the recommended dose. No significant adverse effects have been reported at the stated dose.

DK capsules are contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.

• Patients receiving anticoagulant therapy (e.g., warfarin) should consult their physician before use, as Vitamin K may reduce the effectiveness of these medicines.
• Use with caution in patients with hypercalcemia or conditions predisposing to hypercalcemia, as Vitamin D3 enhances calcium absorption.
• Patients with renal impairment or kidney stones should use only under medical supervision.
• Do not exceed the recommended dose without medical advice.

Vitamin D3 and Vitamin K are considered safe during pregnancy and lactation when used at recommended doses. Supplementation should be under medical supervision to ensure doses do not exceed established safe upper limits.

• Vitamin K antagonizes the action of coumarin-type anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin). Patients on anticoagulant therapy should use Vitamin K-containing supplements only under medical supervision, with regular monitoring of prothrombin time/INR.
• Anticonvulsants (e.g., carbamazepine, phenytoin, phenobarbital) may impair the action of Vitamin K and also accelerate the metabolism of Vitamin D3, potentially reducing its efficacy.
• Thiazide diuretics used concomitantly with Vitamin D3 may increase the risk of hypercalcemia.
