A-Calm

A-Calm is indicated for

• Treatment of increased skeletal muscle tone due to organic neurological disorders, including injury of the pyramidal tract, multiple sclerosis, myelopathy, and encephalomyelitis.
• Treatment of muscular spasm, muscular contracture, rigidity, and spinal automatism.
• Treatment of vascular diseases, including obliterative arteriosclerosis, diabetic angiopathy, obliterative thromboangitis, Raynaud's disease, and diffuse scleroderma.
• Management of post-thrombotic venous and lymphatic circulation disorders, and crural ulcer (in individual cases).

Adults

50–150 mg three times daily, adjusted according to the individual patient's requirement and tolerance.

Children (3 months to 6 years)

5 mg/kg/day in three divided doses.

Children (6 to 14 years)

2–4 mg/kg/day in three divided doses.

Or as directed by a registered physician.

Tolperisone Hydrochloride is a centrally acting muscle relaxant. It acts on the central nervous system to reduce elevated muscle tone and tension, and is also used for certain circulatory problems in the extremities.

Common: Muscular weakness, headache, nausea, and vomiting.

Rare: Hypersensitivity reactions including itching, redness of the skin, and skin rash.

Tolperisone Hydrochloride is contraindicated in

• Patients with a known hypersensitivity to any component of the product.
• Patients with myasthenia gravis.
• Nursing mothers.

In children, the prescribed dose and duration of treatment should be closely observed.

Patients with hepatic or renal impairment

Dose adjustment and close monitoring are required in patients with moderate hepatic or renal impairment. Use is not recommended in patients with severe hepatic or renal dysfunction.

Pediatric patients

Dosing guidelines exist for children from 3 months to 14 years of age based on body weight. The prescribed dose and duration should be closely observed in this population.

Tolperisone Hydrochloride should only be used during pregnancy on the advice of a physician. It should not be used during breastfeeding.

Overdose symptoms observed in preclinical studies include ataxia (loss of muscle coordination), tonic-clonic seizures, respiratory distress, and respiratory paralysis. There is no specific antidote. Management is symptomatic and supportive. Medical attention should be sought immediately in the event of an overdose.

Concomitant use of methocarbamol with Tolperisone Hydrochloride has been reported to cause disturbance of visual accommodation.

Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
