A-Cal D

A-Cal D tablet is indicated for the treatment of osteoporosis, osteomalacia, rickets, tetany, and parathyroid disease.

It is also used as a calcium supplement to ensure adequate dietary intake in the following situations:

• Pregnancy and lactation, when demand for calcium and vitamin D is increased
• During periods of rapid bone and tooth formation (as an adjunct to definitive treatment)
• Therapy with anti-seizure medications
• Chronic renal failure, where it also acts as a phosphate binder

Calcium 500 mg + Vitamin D3 200 IU Tablet

2 tablets daily, or 1 tablet twice daily. Best taken with or just after a meal to improve absorption.

A-Cal D is a combination of Calcium Carbonate and Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol).

Calcium is essential for many normal body functions, most importantly bone formation and maintenance. Vitamin D3 enhances the absorption and reabsorption of calcium in the body and directly stimulates bone formation. Clinical studies have shown that calcium and Vitamin D3 together support bone growth and help prevent osteoporosis and bone fractures.

A-Cal D is contraindicated in patients with

• Hypercalcaemia (abnormally high blood calcium levels)
• Hyperthyroidism
• Renal calculi or nephrolithiasis (kidney stones)
• Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome

Patients with pre-existing heart disease or kidney disease should take this medicine with caution and under medical supervision.

Adults and Elderly

The recommended dose is 1 tablet twice daily.

Children and Adolescents

A-Cal D may be indicated during periods of rapid growth when calcium requirements are raised. Dose should be determined by a physician.

Pregnancy and Lactation

Use only as directed by a physician. Calcium and Vitamin D3 requirements are increased during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Patients with Renal or Cardiac Disease

Extra caution is required. A physician should be consulted before use in patients with pre-existing kidney or heart conditions.

Patients with Limited Sun Exposure

Supplementation may be especially relevant for individuals who do not receive adequate direct sunlight, as sunlight is a primary source of Vitamin D3.

• Digoxin
• Tetracyclines, including doxycycline, minocycline, and oxytetracycline
